HairWork Studies (Locks, Braids, and Lashes), 2018 glass, mixed media HairWork, is an exploration of strength and fragility of the psyche inspired by hair work in mourning objects of the Victorian era. Brushing, cutting, and braiding very finely pulled glass hairs, my making is filled with sublime intimate moments. Subverting expectation, glass proves to be more flexible than thought possible, yet still has a breaking point. The familiarity and underlying falsity interweaves conflicting emotions of seduction and trepidation, and creates a delightful friction emulating the complex nature of our perception.
