fifty 4”x 4” cast glass ring-holders on shelves
(installation size variable)
I merge the sentimental languages of candles and rings as embodiments of promises, wishes, devotion, and ceremony. Present at birthdays as well as at vigils, the action of lighting a candle materializes emotions spanning hope and mourning.
A series of fifty ring holders with wax candle rings and matches line the perimeter of a room. Fading from red to blue, the colors reference medical diagrams indicating oxygenated and deoxygenated blood, as well as the colors in the American flag.
