Death’s-head Hawkmoths are known for their pattern, which resembles that of a skull. It is human nature to build associations with shapes and patterns, and this work exploits that impulse. The moth’s pattern has been altered here and rabbits hide in the mottled wings. They symbolize the accumulation and overcrowding of memory resulting in loss of reality and emergence of fantasy.
